August 19

Today is the tenth anniversary of Tommy’s death. I know many people are thinking of him today. As always, thoughts of Tommy bring up many images. Below is a photo of the Venice pier, as it looked when Tommy was a small boy. In my mind’s eye I still see Tommy riding his skateboard along Washington Boulevard out onto the pier, and later along the Speedway, then through the little streets in the Marina, back across Washington and then along the canals.

Tommy was 42 when he died, and we all miss Tommy, the man, who died before his time. But I in particular miss that boy on his skateboard. I would really like to see his smiling face again and spend some time together. Rest in peace, Tommy. We miss you.
